On October 23-24, 2021, the 2021 Annual Academic Meeting of The Chinese Society of Rare Earths was successfully held in Chengdu. With the theme of "Advocating green development, promoting wide application and benefiting human life", this annual meeting of the society of rare earths mainly discussed the green innovative development of rare earth, promoting the wide application of rare earth elements, especially high abundance elements, so as to solve industrial development problems such as balanced utilization of elements, as well as the future layout and planning of rare earth industry in the carbon neutralization path.
At the annual meeting, Jingkao Niu, Secretary General of The Chinese Society of Rare Earths, read out the list of award-winning projects and winners of the 2020 Rare Earth Science and Technology Award, and awarded the 2020 Rare Earth Science and Technology Award. The project of "Key technology and industrialization of high-performance SmCo rare earth permanent magnet" of THMag won the second prize.
SmCo plays an important role in rare earth permanent magnet materials because of its better temperature coefficient than NdFeB. With the rapid development of high technology, the demand for high temperature permanent magnet materials is increasing. High performance SmCo permanent magnet materials have become the focus of innovative research. By virtue of its performance advantages, the high-performance SmCo permanent magnet material developed this time has been successfully applied to national defense and military industry, aerospace, wind power generation, medical equipment, high-end motors and other fields, and has achieved remarkable comprehensive benefits in economy, society, energy conservation and environmental protection.
